About
ITRASCALE 200 CAP contains Itraconazole, a broad-spectrum triazole antifungal agent. It works by inhibiting the fungal cytochrome P450-dependent enzyme lanosterol 14-alpha-demethylase, which is essential for the synthesis of ergosterol, a vital component of the fungal cell membrane. This inhibition leads to a disruption of fungal cell membrane integrity and function, ultimately resulting in fungal cell death or inhibition of growth. Itraconazole is effective against a wide range of fungi, including dermatophytes, yeasts, and various systemic fungi. It is commonly used for superficial fungal infections, such as onychomycosis, and for more serious systemic fungal infections, particularly in immunocompromised patients, providing a crucial therapeutic option for difficult-to-treat fungal diseases.
