About
Kabizolid, containing Linezolid, is a synthetic oxazolidinone antibiotic specifically developed for the treatment of serious infections caused by susceptible Gram-positive bacteria. Its distinct mechanism of action involves binding to the 23S ribosomal RNA of the 50S ribosomal subunit, thereby preventing the formation of the 70S initiation complex, which is essential for bacterial protein synthesis. This bacteriostatic action is particularly valuable against multi-drug resistant pathogens, including Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), Vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus (VRE), and penicillin-resistant Streptococcus pneumoniae. Due to its efficacy against these challenging pathogens, Linezolid is often reserved for severe and complicated infections, such as nosocomial pneumonia, community-acquired pneumonia, and complicated skin and skin structure infections, especially when other conventional antibiotics are ineffective or contraindicated.
