About
Lenvatinib is a multi-kinase inhibitor used in the treatment of various advanced cancers, including differentiated thyroid cancer, hepatocellular carcinoma, and renal cell carcinoma. It works by selectively inhibiting the kinase activities of vascular endothelial growth factor receptors (VEGFR1, VEGFR2, and VEGFR3), fibroblast growth factor receptors (FGFR1, FGFR2, FGFR3, and FGFR4), platelet-derived growth factor receptor alpha (PDGFRα), RET, and KIT. By targeting these multiple receptor tyrosine kinases, lenvatinib effectively inhibits tumor growth, angiogenesis (formation of new blood vessels that feed the tumor), and lymphangiogenesis. This comprehensive inhibition of key signaling pathways involved in cancer progression makes lenvatinib a powerful agent for patients with advanced or metastatic disease who have limited treatment options.
