About

NAB TORTAXEL is an innovative albumin-bound formulation of paclitaxel, a well-known taxane-class antineoplastic agent. This unique formulation delivers paclitaxel without the need for solvent-based carriers, such as Cremophor EL, which are often associated with severe hypersensitivity reactions and necessitate extensive premedication. The mechanism of action of NAB TORTAXEL involves binding to tubulin, promoting the assembly of microtubules, and simultaneously inhibiting their depolymerization. This stabilization of microtubules leads to the disruption of the normal dynamic equilibrium of the mitotic spindle, arresting cancer cells in the G2/M phase of the cell cycle and ultimately inducing apoptosis. The albumin-bound technology is designed to enhance drug delivery to tumors by utilizing the albumin-mediated transport pathway, potentially improving efficacy and reducing certain toxicities compared to conventional paclitaxel, making it a valuable therapeutic option for various solid tumors, including metastatic breast cancer, non-small cell lung cancer, and pancreatic adenocarcinoma.

Uses

  • Treatment of metastatic breast cancer.
  • Management of non-small cell lung cancer.
