About

ONITRAZ SB 50 contains Itraconazole, a broad-spectrum triazole antifungal agent, often formulated as a solid dispersion (SB) to enhance its bioavailability. Itraconazole works by inhibiting the fungal cytochrome P450-dependent enzyme 14-alpha-demethylase, which is essential for the synthesis of ergosterol, a critical component of the fungal cell membrane. This disruption leads to increased membrane permeability, leakage of cellular contents, and ultimately, the inhibition of fungal growth or cell death.

Its broad activity makes it effective against a wide range of dermatophytes, yeasts, and other pathogenic fungi, particularly useful for systemic and stubborn superficial infections. The SB formulation aims to improve absorption, ensuring more consistent and effective drug levels in the body to combat persistent fungal pathogens.

Uses

  • Treatment of onychomycosis (fungal nail infections).
  • Management of systemic fungal infections (e.g., aspergillosis, candidiasis).
  • Therapy for histoplasmosis and blastomycosis.
  • Treatment of severe or recurrent vaginal candidiasis.

Take the capsule orally immediately after a full meal to ensure optimal absorption, as directed by your physician. Swallow whole; do not chew or crush.
