About

Oxpla 50mg Injection contains Oxaliplatin, a third-generation platinum-based antineoplastic agent. It works by forming DNA adducts, primarily inter- and intra-strand cross-links, which inhibit DNA replication and transcription. This ultimately leads to cell cycle arrest and apoptosis (programmed cell death) in cancer cells. Unlike cisplatin and carboplatin, oxaliplatin has a distinct mechanism of action and a different toxicity profile, notably less nephrotoxicity and ototoxicity. It is highly effective against colorectal cancer and is often used in combination with fluoropyrimidines (e.g., 5-fluorouracil and leucovorin) in regimens like FOLFOX. Oxaliplatin's efficacy extends to both adjuvant and metastatic settings, improving patient outcomes in gastrointestinal malignancies.
