About

POTRATE SF SYP 200ML is a sugar-free formulation primarily containing potassium citrate, a urinary alkalizer. It is widely used in the prevention and management of kidney stones, particularly calcium oxalate and uric acid stones. Potassium citrate works by increasing urinary pH and raising urinary citrate levels. Citrate binds with calcium in the urine, preventing its crystallization and subsequent stone formation. It also inhibits the aggregation of calcium oxalate crystals and helps to dissolve existing uric acid stones by making the urine less acidic. This action is crucial for patients with hypocitraturia or those prone to recurrent stone formation, offering a vital therapeutic option.

Uses

  • Prevention of calcium oxalate kidney stones
  • Management of uric acid kidney stones
  • Treatment of renal tubular acidosis
  • Correction of hypocitraturia
