About

REVELOL 25H is a combination medication containing Metoprolol, a beta-1 selective adrenergic blocking agent, and Hydrochlorothiazide, a thiazide diuretic. This formulation is primarily indicated for the management of essential hypertension, especially in patients who have not achieved adequate blood pressure control with monotherapy. Metoprolol works by reducing heart rate, myocardial contractility, and cardiac output, thereby lowering blood pressure. Hydrochlorothiazide complements this action by increasing the excretion of sodium and water from the body, leading to a reduction in blood volume and peripheral vascular resistance. The synergistic effect of these two agents provides a more potent antihypertensive action than either drug alone. This combination helps to achieve target blood pressure levels more effectively, reducing the risk of cardiovascular events such as stroke and myocardial infarction. It is particularly useful for patients who may also benefit from a diuretic effect, such as those with mild fluid retention.

Uses

  • Management of essential hypertension.
  • Treatment of hypertension unresponsive to monotherapy.
  • Reduction of fluid retention associated with hypertension.
  • Prevention of cardiovascular complications in hypertensive patients.
