About

TAMEPRO-25 contains Metoprolol, a selective beta-1 adrenergic receptor blocker. It works by blocking the action of certain natural chemicals in your body, like epinephrine, on the heart and blood vessels. This action helps to slow down the heart rate, relax blood vessels, and reduce the force with which the heart pumps blood. Consequently, it lowers blood pressure and reduces the workload on the heart. It is commonly prescribed for various cardiovascular conditions to improve heart function and prevent complications.

This medication is particularly effective in managing chronic conditions requiring long-term control of heart rate and blood pressure. Its selective action primarily targets the heart, minimizing effects on other organs, though caution is still advised in certain patient populations. Regular use as directed is crucial for achieving optimal therapeutic outcomes and maintaining cardiovascular health.

Safety Measures

  • Alcohol - Alcohol can enhance the blood pressure-lowering effect of Metoprolol, leading to increased dizziness or lightheadedness. It is advisable to limit or avoid alcohol consumption.
  • Pregnancy - Metoprolol is generally not recommended during pregnancy, especially in the third trimester, as it may cause fetal bradycardia, hypoglycemia, and growth restriction. Consult your doctor.
  • Breastfeeding - Small amounts of Metoprolol are excreted into breast milk. While generally considered safe, monitor the infant for signs of bradycardia or hypoglycemia. Use with caution and medical advice.
  • Liver - Metoprolol is metabolized in the liver. Patients with severe liver impairment may require a dose adjustment due to reduced clearance of the drug.
  • Kidney - No significant dose adjustment is typically required for Metoprolol in patients with kidney impairment, but caution is advised in severe cases.
  • Lung - Metoprolol should be used with extreme caution or avoided in patients with severe asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), or other bronchospastic conditions, as it can worsen respiratory symptoms.
