About

This medication combines Silodosin, a highly selective alpha-1A adrenergic receptor antagonist, with Dutasteride, a dual 5-alpha reductase inhibitor. Silodosin works by relaxing the smooth muscles in the prostate, bladder neck, and urethra, thereby rapidly improving urine flow and alleviating lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Dutasteride, on the other hand, acts by inhibiting the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a key hormone responsible for prostate growth. This leads to a reduction in prostate size over time, addressing the underlying cause of BPH progression. The combination therapy offers a comprehensive approach to BPH management, providing both rapid symptomatic relief from the alpha-blocker component and long-term reduction in prostate volume and risk of BPH-related complications from the 5-alpha reductase inhibitor component. It is particularly beneficial for men with moderate to severe BPH and an enlarged prostate.
