About
STATPURE A 10/75 MG TAB is a combination medication containing Atorvastatin 10mg and Aspirin 75mg. Atorvastatin is an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor (statin) that effectively lowers elevated levels of LDL-C (bad cholesterol), total cholesterol, and triglycerides, while also increasing HDL-C (good cholesterol). It achieves this by inhibiting the enzyme responsible for cholesterol synthesis in the liver. Aspirin, an antiplatelet agent, works by irreversibly inhibiting cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1), which prevents the formation of thromboxane A2, a potent inducer of platelet aggregation.
This combination is primarily indicated for the secondary prevention of cardiovascular events in patients who have established atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, such as a history of myocardial infarction, stroke, or peripheral arterial disease. It provides both lipid-lowering benefits and antiplatelet effects, addressing two critical aspects of cardiovascular risk management. The 10mg dose of Atorvastatin is suitable for initial therapy or for patients requiring moderate cholesterol reduction, while the 75mg Aspirin dose provides effective antiplatelet aggregation to prevent thrombotic events.
