About

Telvas AM 80 mg ATB combines Telmisartan (an angiotensin II receptor blocker) and Amlodipine (a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker). Telmisartan works by blocking the effects of angiotensin II, leading to relaxation of blood vessels and a reduction in blood pressure. Amlodipine inhibits the influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle, causing peripheral arterial vasodilation and a reduction in peripheral vascular resistance, which also lowers blood pressure. This combination provides a comprehensive approach to managing hypertension by targeting different physiological pathways.

This fixed-dose combination is indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension, particularly in patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with either Telmisartan or Amlodipine alone. The synergistic action of these two agents results in a more pronounced and sustained reduction in blood pressure, helping to minimize the risk of serious cardiovascular events such as stroke, heart attack, and kidney disease. Its once-daily dosing regimen enhances patient adherence and simplifies treatment.
