About

Bortezomib is a potent and reversible proteasome inhibitor, a class of antineoplastic agents used primarily in the treatment of multiple myeloma and mantle cell lymphoma. It works by inhibiting the 26S proteasome, a multi-enzyme complex responsible for degrading ubiquitinated proteins, including those involved in cell cycle regulation, apoptosis, and transcription. This inhibition leads to an accumulation of misfolded proteins, disruption of cellular homeostasis, and ultimately, induction of apoptosis in cancer cells. Bortezomib is administered intravenously or subcutaneously and has demonstrated significant efficacy in both newly diagnosed and relapsed/refractory settings.
