About
Thalitero 100mg Capsule is an immunomodulatory medication containing the active ingredient thalidomide. It is mainly prescribed for patients recently diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a type of cancer that affects plasma cells—a kind of white blood cell. In multiple myeloma, these cells grow uncontrollably and accumulate in the bone marrow, leading to damage to the bones and kidneys. Thalitero is also used to treat moderate to severe new lesions caused by leprosy, a chronic infectious disease affecting the skin and nerves, caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium leprae.
Common side effects of Thalitero 100mg Capsule include drowsiness, headache, dizziness, rash, pain, fatigue, constipation, nausea, impotence, loss of appetite, fever, and depression. If any of these side effects become bothersome or persist, inform your doctor promptly.
Make sure to tell your healthcare provider if you are allergic to Thalitero or any of its ingredients. Also, inform your doctor if you have a history of blood clots, heart attack, neuropathy (nerve pain in hands or feet), slow heart rate, abnormal blood pressure, liver or kidney issues, or viral infections such as HIV, hepatitis B, or varicella zoster. Your doctor will monitor your thyroid function before and during treatment. Stop taking Thalitero and consult your doctor immediately if you suspect you are pregnant, experience irregular or missed periods, notice any changes in menstrual bleeding, or have had unprotected sex. This medication is not recommended for adolescents or children under 18 years of age.
