About

Uniphos 200mg Injection is an alkylating chemotherapy agent widely used in the treatment of various aggressive cancers. It functions as a prodrug, requiring metabolic activation in the liver to generate its active cytotoxic metabolites. These metabolites then interfere with the DNA of cancer cells by forming covalent cross-links, which effectively prevent DNA replication, transcription, and ultimately, cell division. This potent cytotoxic action is particularly effective against rapidly proliferating malignant cells. A critical consideration with Uniphos is its potential for urotoxicity, specifically severe hemorrhagic cystitis, caused by the metabolite acrolein. Therefore, it is almost invariably co-administered with mesna, a uroprotectant agent, to neutralize these toxic metabolites within the bladder and prevent bladder damage. It is a vital component in many established combination chemotherapy regimens.

  • Treatment of germ cell testicular cancer.

  • Lung - Rare but serious pulmonary toxicity can occur; monitor for respiratory symptoms, especially in patients with pre-existing lung conditions.
