About

VILCHEMIE M 1000 is a combination medication used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus, containing Vildagliptin and Metformin. Vildagliptin is a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor that works by increasing the levels of incretin hormones (GLP-1 and GIP) in the body. These hormones enhance glucose-dependent insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells and suppress glucagon secretion from alpha cells, leading to improved blood glucose control without a high risk of hypoglycemia. Metformin, a biguanide, reduces hepatic glucose production, improves insulin sensitivity, and decreases intestinal glucose absorption.

This combination therapy offers a synergistic approach to managing type 2 diabetes by addressing both impaired insulin secretion and insulin resistance, as well as post-meal glucose excursions. VILCHEMIE M 1000 is typically prescribed when diet, exercise, and monotherapy with either Vildagliptin or Metformin are insufficient to achieve target blood sugar levels. It provides effective glycemic control with a relatively low risk of weight gain and hypoglycemia, making it a valuable option for many patients.
