About

Actamase Powder for Injection is an antibiotic used to treat severe bacterial infections. It contains a combination of cefepime and tazobactam and is generally administered in hospital settings for hard-to-treat infections, including those of the urinary tract, skin and soft tissues, and the abdominal area. It is usually prescribed when other antibiotics have not been effective.

Cefepime works by breaking down the protective cell wall of bacteria, causing them to die. Tazobactam enhances the effect of cefepime by blocking enzymes that make bacteria resistant to antibiotics. Together, they provide stronger protection against harmful bacterial infections.

Possible side effects may include diarrhoea, nausea, headache, skin rashes, or pain at the injection site. Though uncommon, serious effects such as allergic reactions or seizures may occur. Inform your doctor if you have a history of antibiotic allergies or kidney problems, as these may influence how the medicine is prescribed. Also, let your doctor know about any other medications you are taking, since some may interact with Actamase.

This injection is given only by a doctor or nurse—do not attempt to administer it yourself. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, consult your doctor before using this medicine. Avoid driving or operating machinery if you experience dizziness or confusion after receiving it. Always store the medicine safely, away from children. Report any unusual or severe symptoms to your healthcare provider right away.
