About

WEMDAZOLE 100 ML INJ VIAL contains metronidazole, a synthetic nitroimidazole antimicrobial agent renowned for its potent activity against anaerobic bacteria and various protozoa. The drug's mechanism involves its entry into susceptible microorganisms, where it undergoes reductive activation by electron transport proteins. This reduction process generates highly reactive nitro radical anions that damage microbial DNA and other vital cellular components, ultimately leading to cell death. Metronidazole's selective toxicity against anaerobes and protozoa stems from their unique metabolic pathways that facilitate this reductive activation. It is a critical therapeutic agent for systemic infections, intra-abdominal sepsis, gynecological infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and parasitic diseases such as trichomoniasis, amebiasis, and giardiasis. Its intravenous formulation ensures rapid and effective systemic delivery, particularly in severe or hospitalized cases, making it indispensable in clinical practice.
