About

Apragem 1gm RTU Injection contains gemcitabine, a nucleoside analog antimetabolite used in various cancer treatments. Gemcitabine acts by inhibiting DNA synthesis and repair, leading to cell death. Once inside the cell, gemcitabine is phosphorylated to its active diphosphate and triphosphate forms. Gemcitabine diphosphate inhibits ribonucleotide reductase, reducing the deoxycytidine triphosphate pool necessary for DNA synthesis. Gemcitabine triphosphate is incorporated into DNA, causing chain termination and inhibiting DNA polymerase. This dual mechanism makes it effective against rapidly dividing cancer cells. It is administered intravenously and is a cornerstone in the treatment of several solid tumors.
