About

Gemtaz (Gemcitabine) is an antimetabolite chemotherapy agent widely used in the treatment of various solid tumors, including pancreatic, non-small cell lung, breast, and ovarian cancers. It is a nucleoside analog that, once intracellularly phosphorylated, inhibits DNA synthesis and repair by incorporating into DNA and RNA, leading to chain termination and ultimately inducing cell death. Gemcitabine's mechanism of action also involves inhibiting ribonucleotide reductase, an enzyme essential for DNA synthesis. Administered intravenously, it is often used alone or in combination with other chemotherapeutic agents or radiation therapy to improve treatment outcomes, reduce tumor burden, and provide palliative symptom relief for patients with advanced malignancies.
