About

ARBITEL AMH TAB is a triple combination therapy comprising Telmisartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB); Amlodipine, a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker (CCB); and Hydrochlorothiazide, a thiazide diuretic. Telmisartan blocks the AT1 receptor, causing vasodilation. Amlodipine relaxes blood vessels by inhibiting calcium influx. Hydrochlorothiazide increases the excretion of sodium and water. This comprehensive approach targets three distinct mechanisms of blood pressure regulation, providing powerful and sustained antihypertensive effects. It is indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension, particularly in patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled by dual therapy, aiming to achieve optimal blood pressure control and reduce cardiovascular risks.

Uses

  • Treatment of essential hypertension.
  • Management of hypertension in patients inadequately controlled by dual therapy.
  • Reduction of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality.
  • Prevention of stroke and myocardial infarction in high-risk individuals.

Directions For Use

Take orally once daily, with or without food, as directed by your healthcare provider.

Benefits

  • Potent and comprehensive blood pressure control.
  • Significantly reduces the risk of major cardiovascular events.
  • Effective for patients resistant to dual antihypertensive therapy.
  • Convenient once-daily dosing improves adherence.
  • Targets multiple mechanisms of blood pressure regulation.
  • May improve outcomes in patients with high cardiovascular risk.

Side Effects

  • Dizziness or lightheadedness
  • Peripheral edema (swelling of ankles/feet)
  • Headache
  • Fatigue
  • Nausea
  • Palpitations
  • Hypotension
  • Hyperkalemia (less common with HCTZ)
  • Hypokalemia (due to HCTZ)
  • Flushing

  • Renal impairment
  • Increased uric acid levels

Safety Measures

  • Alcohol - Avoid or limit alcohol consumption as it may enhance the hypotensive effects, leading to increased dizziness or lightheadedness.
  • Pregnancy - Contraindicated during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, due to significant risk of fetal renal dysfunction and mortality from the ARB component.
  • Breastfeeding - Not recommended during breastfeeding as the active ingredients may pass into breast milk and could cause adverse effects in the nursing infant.
  • Liver - Use with caution in patients with severe hepatic impairment; dose adjustment may be necessary due to altered metabolism and excretion of the components.
  • Kidney - Use with caution in patients with severe renal impairment; close monitoring of kidney function and electrolytes is essential due to potential for worsening renal function.
  • Lung - Generally safe for use in patients with lung conditions; however, monitor for any unusual respiratory symptoms, though not typically associated with these medications.
