About

Armotraz 1mg Tablet contains Anastrozole, an aromatase inhibitor primarily used in the treatment of hormone receptor-positive breast cancer in postmenopausal women. Aromatase is an enzyme responsible for converting androgens into estrogens in peripheral tissues, which is the main source of estrogen in postmenopausal women. By selectively inhibiting this enzyme, Anastrozole significantly reduces circulating estrogen levels, thereby depriving estrogen-sensitive breast cancer cells of the growth stimulus they require. This action helps to slow or stop the growth of hormone-dependent tumors.

This medication is typically prescribed as adjuvant therapy after surgery, or for the treatment of advanced breast cancer. It is taken orally, usually once daily. Regular monitoring for bone mineral density and lipid profiles is important during treatment, as aromatase inhibitors can affect these parameters. The goal of therapy is to prevent recurrence, reduce tumor size, and improve overall survival in eligible patients by effectively lowering estrogen levels.

Uses

  • Adjuvant treatment of hormone receptor-positive early breast cancer in postmenopausal women.
  • First-line treatment of hormone receptor-positive advanced breast cancer in postmenopausal women.
  • Treatment of advanced breast cancer in postmenopausal women with disease progression following tamoxifen therapy.
  • Reduces the risk of recurrence in high-risk patients.
