About

BANDY PLUS TAB is an anthelmintic medication typically combining Albendazole and Ivermectin, designed for the comprehensive treatment of various parasitic worm infections. Albendazole is a broad-spectrum benzimidazole carbamate that works by selectively binding to beta-tubulin in intestinal and tissue helminths, inhibiting microtubule polymerization and impairing glucose uptake, leading to the immobilization and death of the parasites. Ivermectin, an avermectin derivative, acts by binding to glutamate-gated chloride channels in invertebrate nerve and muscle cells, causing hyperpolarization and paralysis of the parasite. This dual-action approach provides enhanced efficacy against a wider range of helminths, including intestinal nematodes, filarial worms, and certain ectoparasites, making it a highly effective treatment for mixed parasitic infestations.

Uses

  • Treatment of intestinal worm infections (e.g., roundworm, hookworm).
  • Management of filarial infections (e.g., lymphatic filariasis).
  • Eradication of strongyloidiasis.
  • Treatment of certain ectoparasitic infestations.
