About

Certican 0.5mg Tablet is an anticancer medication that belongs to the class of mTOR kinase inhibitors and contains the active ingredient everolimus. It is prescribed for the treatment of advanced breast cancer, renal cell carcinoma, pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors, and subependymal giant cell astrocytoma (tumors located in the brain’s ventricles). Maintaining good oral hygiene and attending regular dental check-ups is important during treatment, as the medicine may cause mouth sores or ulcers. For subependymal giant cell astrocytoma, it is often used in combination with cyclophosphamide, an alkylating agent.

This treatment may increase your risk of bacterial and viral infections. If you have a history of Hepatitis B, the risk of reinfection may be higher. Inform your doctor if you experience symptoms like fever, chills, persistent cough, yellowing of the skin or eyes, joint pain, or swelling. You should minimize exposure to sunlight and UV radiation by wearing protective clothing and regularly applying sunscreen, as this medication can increase the risk of certain skin cancers. Grapefruit and grapefruit juice should be avoided during treatment, as they may interfere with the drug’s effect.

Certican 0.5mg Tablet is not advised for use in children or adolescents under 18 years of age. Notify your healthcare provider immediately if you develop symptoms such as shortness of breath, chest discomfort, or a worsening cough. Your doctor may conduct periodic tests to monitor your white blood cell count, platelet levels, blood sugar, electrolytes, and kidney function to avoid serious complications. Since the medicine may impact kidney health, inform your doctor if you have a history of liver disease, heart failure, high cholesterol, or hypertension before starting therapy. Avoid live vaccines and close contact with individuals recently vaccinated with live vaccines.
