About

Doxorubicin, the active ingredient in Doxutec Injection, is an anthracycline topoisomerase inhibitor widely used in chemotherapy. It exerts its cytotoxic effects through several mechanisms, including intercalation into DNA, inhibition of topoisomerase II, and generation of free radicals. DNA intercalation disrupts DNA and RNA synthesis, while topoisomerase II inhibition prevents DNA unwinding and replication, leading to DNA strand breaks. The production of reactive oxygen species also contributes to cellular damage.

These combined actions result in cell cycle arrest and apoptosis, primarily affecting rapidly dividing cancer cells. Doxorubicin is a broad-spectrum antineoplastic agent effective against a variety of solid tumors and hematological malignancies, often used as a component of multi-drug regimens.
