About

Entaliv 0.5mg tablet is an antiviral medication classified as a nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NRTI), with the active ingredient Entecavir. It is used to treat chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection, which occurs when the immune system cannot clear the virus from the liver within six months of the initial infection.

Before starting treatment, inform your doctor if you have any existing skin conditions, a history of anemia, seizures, or liver or kidney disease. Regular blood tests may be necessary to monitor your blood counts and liver function during treatment. These tests help your healthcare provider evaluate your response to the medication and detect any side effects or complications early. Alcohol should be completely avoided, as it may increase the risk of liver damage. A rare but serious side effect of this drug is lactic acidosis (excess lactic acid in the blood), especially in obese women. If you experience nausea, vomiting, or stomach pain while taking this tablet, contact your doctor immediately.

Consult your doctor before using Entaliv if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. The tablet should not be taken during pregnancy unless specifically advised by your doctor. Effective contraception is recommended while on this medication to prevent pregnancy. Breastfeeding should be avoided during treatment, as it is unknown whether the drug passes into breast milk. Do not take this tablet if you are allergic to Entecavir or any of the other ingredients.

For individuals living with HIV, it is important to take precautions to prevent virus transmission. Avoid unprotected sex and sharing personal items like razors or toothbrushes. Using condoms and practicing safe measures can reduce the risk of spreading HIV. Discuss appropriate prevention strategies with your doctor.
