About

Forxiga 5mg Tablet contains dapagliflozin, an oral antidiabetic medication belonging to the class of sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors. This medication works by blocking the reabsorption of glucose in the kidneys, leading to increased excretion of glucose in the urine. This mechanism effectively lowers blood glucose levels independently of insulin secretion. Beyond its glucose-lowering effects, dapagliflozin has demonstrated significant cardiovascular and renal benefits, making it a valuable treatment option for a broader range of patients. It has been shown to reduce the risk of cardiovascular death and hospitalization for heart failure, as well as slow the progression of chronic kidney disease. Forxiga is typically used as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with Type 2 diabetes mellitus, and for its protective effects on the heart and kidneys in specific patient populations. Regular monitoring of kidney function and hydration status is important during treatment.
