About

SITAHENZ DL 100 likely contains Sitagliptin 100mg, a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor used for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Sitagliptin works by enhancing the body's natural ability to lower high blood glucose levels. It does this by increasing the levels of active incretin hormones, glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP). These hormones are released by the intestine throughout the day and their levels increase in response to a meal. Incretins increase insulin synthesis and release from pancreatic beta cells and decrease glucagon secretion from pancreatic alpha cells, leading to reduced blood glucose levels. Sitagliptin is effective as monotherapy or in combination with other antidiabetic agents, providing improved glycemic control without typically causing weight gain or a high risk of hypoglycemia when used alone.
