About
DAPACONIC 5MG TAB contains Dapagliflozin 5mg, a sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor. This medication is used for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus, heart failure with reduced ejection fraction, and chronic kidney disease. Dapagliflozin works by inhibiting SGLT2 in the renal tubules, which reduces the reabsorption of glucose from the kidneys back into the bloodstream. This leads to increased glucose excretion in the urine, thereby lowering blood glucose levels. Beyond its glucose-lowering effects, dapagliflozin has demonstrated significant cardiovascular and renal protective benefits, reducing the risk of hospitalization for heart failure and slowing the progression of kidney disease. It is an important therapeutic option for patients needing comprehensive management of these interconnected conditions.
