Introduction to Jaknat 5mg Tablet

Jaknat 5mg Tablet contains Tofacitinib, a disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drug (DMARD) classified under immunomodulators. It is used on its own or in combination with other medicines to treat rheumatoid arthritis, a condition where the immune system mistakenly attacks the joints, leading to pain, swelling, and reduced mobility. It is also prescribed for psoriatic arthritis, which affects both the joints and skin, and for adults with moderately to severely active ulcerative colitis, a chronic inflammatory bowel disease.

Jaknat 5mg Tablet additionally helps manage ankylosing spondylitis, an inflammatory disorder that affects the spine. In children aged 2 years and above, it can be used to treat active polyarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis, a long-term condition causing joint pain and swelling. This medicine works by lowering the activity of the immune system and controlling inflammation.

Before using this medication, inform your doctor if you have severe infections, active or past tuberculosis, liver disease, or a history of hepatitis B, as the virus may reactivate during treatment.

Do not use Jaknat 5mg Tablet if you are allergic to tofacitinib or any of its ingredients. Seek medical advice if you develop symptoms of infection such as fever, excessive sweating, chills, cough, shortness of breath, muscle pain, unexplained weight loss, sores on the skin, difficulty swallowing, diarrhea, or stomach pain. Also inform your doctor if you have kidney, heart, lung, or liver problems, high blood pressure, high cholesterol levels, a history of TB, or if you are a current or former smoker.

Therapeutic Effects

By blocking these enzymes, the medicine reduces inflammatory signals and slows down the progression of autoimmune diseases.

Interaction of Jaknat 5mg Tablet with Other Drugs

Inform your healthcare provider about all prescription medicines, OTC drugs, vaccines, supplements, and herbal preparations you are taking. Some medicines may interact with tofacitinib and increase the risk of side effects or reduce treatment effectiveness.
