About

Lenvatinib is a multi-kinase inhibitor that selectively inhibits the kinase activities of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) receptors VEGFR1 (FLT1), VEGFR2 (KDR), and VEGFR3 (FLT4). It also inhibits other pro-angiogenic and oncogenic signaling pathways associated with fibroblast growth factor (FGF) receptors FGFR1, 2, 3, and 4, platelet-derived growth factor receptor alpha (PDGFRα), KIT, and RET proto-oncogene. By targeting these pathways, lenvatinib effectively inhibits tumor growth, angiogenesis, and metastatic progression.

This targeted therapy is crucial in managing various advanced cancers where these pathways are dysregulated. Its mechanism of action involves blocking the signaling cascades essential for tumor cell proliferation and the formation of new blood vessels that supply tumors, thereby starving the tumor and inhibiting its growth. The dual inhibition of VEGF and FGF pathways provides a broad anti-angiogenic and anti-tumor effect, making it a valuable agent in oncology for specific indications.
