About

This medication is a fixed-dose combination therapy designed for the effective management of essential hypertension, combining Olmesartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB), with Amlodipine, a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker (CCB). Olmesartan exerts its antihypertensive effect by selectively blocking the binding of angiotensin II to its AT1 receptors, preventing vasoconstriction and aldosterone release, which results in vasodilation and reduced blood pressure. Amlodipine works by inhibiting the influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle and myocardial cells, leading to peripheral vasodilation and a decrease in systemic vascular resistance, thereby lowering blood pressure.
