About

PRICHEK M2 FORTE is a combination oral antidiabetic medication containing Glimepiride (2mg) and a higher dose of Metformin, prescribed for adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Glimepiride, a sulfonylurea, acts by stimulating the pancreatic beta cells to release insulin, thereby reducing blood glucose. Metformin, a biguanide, primarily decreases hepatic glucose production and improves insulin sensitivity in peripheral tissues, allowing the body to use insulin more effectively. This higher-strength combination is designed for patients who require more robust glycemic control.

It is particularly useful when lower doses or monotherapy have proven insufficient to achieve target blood sugar levels. The synergistic action of glimepiride and metformin helps to significantly reduce HbA1c, manage both fasting and post-meal glucose, and mitigate the risk of long-term diabetes complications, especially when diet and exercise alone are insufficient.

Uses

  • Management of type 2 diabetes mellitus.
  • To achieve intensive glycemic control.
  • When diet and exercise are insufficient.
  • As an add-on to other antidiabetic agents.
