About

Trigulin tablets contain glimepiride, a sulfonylurea antidiabetic agent used to manage type 2 diabetes mellitus. Glimepiride primarily works by stimulating the beta cells in the pancreas to release more insulin, particularly in the presence of glucose. This increased insulin secretion helps to lower blood glucose levels by facilitating glucose uptake into peripheral tissues and reducing hepatic glucose production. It is a potent agent that can significantly reduce both fasting and postprandial blood glucose levels, leading to improved HbA1c. Glimepiride is typically prescribed when diet, exercise, and weight reduction alone are insufficient to control blood sugar. It is often used as monotherapy or in combination with other antidiabetic medications, such as metformin, to achieve optimal glycemic targets.

Uses

  • Management of type 2 diabetes mellitus.
  • As an adjunct to diet and exercise.
