About
Prixain D 75/20 is a combination medication containing Diclofenac, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), and Esomeprazole, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI). Diclofenac works by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes, thereby reducing the production of prostaglandins, which are mediators of pain, inflammation, and fever. Esomeprazole reduces gastric acid secretion by irreversibly binding to and inhibiting the H+/K+-ATPase pump in gastric parietal cells. This combination is specifically designed to provide effective pain and inflammation relief while simultaneously protecting the gastric mucosa from the gastrointestinal side effects commonly associated with NSAID use, such as ulcers and erosions. It is typically prescribed for patients requiring long-term NSAID therapy who are at risk of developing gastrointestinal complications.
