About

PROTEOZ is a proteasome inhibitor, an antineoplastic agent used in the treatment of certain hematologic malignancies. It works by reversibly inhibiting the chymotrypsin-like activity of the 26S proteasome, a large protein complex responsible for degrading ubiquitinated proteins. This inhibition disrupts multiple intracellular signaling pathways, leading to the accumulation of misfolded or ubiquitinated proteins within the cell. This accumulation triggers endoplasmic reticulum stress, activates pro-apoptotic pathways, and ultimately induces programmed cell death (apoptosis) in cancer cells. The proteasome plays a critical role in cell cycle progression, gene expression, and protein homeostasis, making its inhibition a potent strategy against rapidly dividing cancer cells.

Its targeted mechanism of action makes it particularly effective in conditions like multiple myeloma and mantle cell lymphoma, where proteasome activity is often dysregulated. By interfering with the degradation of regulatory proteins, PROTEOZ can sensitize cancer cells to other treatments and overcome resistance mechanisms. It is typically administered as part of a combination regimen, enhancing its overall therapeutic impact and improving patient outcomes in these challenging cancers.
