About

Rapilif 8/0.5 is a combination medication containing Silodosin (8mg) and Dutasteride (0.5mg), used for the comprehensive treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Silodosin is a highly selective alpha-1A adrenergic receptor antagonist that rapidly relaxes the smooth muscles in the prostate, bladder neck, and urethra, leading to improved urine flow and immediate relief of BPH symptoms. Dutasteride is a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor that works by blocking the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a hormone responsible for prostate growth. This action reduces the size of the enlarged prostate over time, addressing the underlying cause of BPH progression.

This combination therapy offers both rapid symptomatic relief from the dynamic component of BPH (muscle tone) and long-term reduction in prostate volume, which addresses the static component (physical enlargement). It is particularly beneficial for men with moderate to severe BPH symptoms and an enlarged prostate, aiming to reduce the risk of acute urinary retention and the need for BPH-related surgery. Consistent adherence to the prescribed regimen is crucial for achieving optimal and sustained therapeutic outcomes.

  • Treatment of moderate to severe symptoms of BPH
  • Reduction of prostate size in enlarged prostates
