About

This medication combines Remogliflozin and Vildagliptin, providing a dual-action approach to manage type 2 diabetes mellitus. Remogliflozin is a selective sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor that reduces glucose reabsorption in the kidneys, leading to increased glucose excretion in the urine and a subsequent lowering of blood glucose levels. Vildagliptin is a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor. It works by preventing the breakdown of incretin hormones, GLP-1 and GIP, which are released in response to food. Higher levels of these hormones enhance glucose-dependent insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells and suppress glucagon secretion from alpha cells, thereby improving glycemic control. The combination of these two agents offers complementary mechanisms to effectively reduce fasting and postprandial glucose, improve HbA1c, and provide comprehensive management for adults with type 2 diabetes.

Uses

  • Management of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults.
  • Improvement of glycemic control as an adjunct to diet and exercise.
  • Reduction of elevated fasting and postprandial blood glucose levels.
  • Lowering of HbA1c levels to achieve target glycemic goals.

Directions For Use

Take orally, usually once or twice daily, with or without food as directed by your physician. Swallow the tablet whole with water.

Benefits

  • Significant reduction in blood glucose levels.
  • Improved long-term glycemic control (HbA1c).
  • Potential for modest weight reduction.
  • May offer cardiovascular protective effects.
  • May provide renal protective benefits.
  • Comprehensive management through multiple mechanisms of action.

  • Thirst/dehydration
  • Nausea
  • Headache
  • Nasopharyngitis
  • Dizziness
  • Tremor

Safety Measures

  • Alcohol - Limit alcohol intake as it can affect blood sugar levels and may increase the risk of dehydration associated with SGLT2 inhibitors.
  • Pregnancy - Generally not recommended during pregnancy. Consult your doctor, as the risks and benefits need to be carefully weighed.
  • Breastfeeding - Not recommended during breastfeeding due to potential excretion into breast milk and unknown effects on the infant. Consult your doctor.
  • Liver - Use with caution in patients with liver impairment. Limited data exist, and close monitoring may be required.
  • Kidney - Dose adjustment may be required based on renal function. Contraindicated in severe renal impairment (eGFR below certain thresholds) for SGLT2 inhibitors.
  • Lung - Generally safe for use in patients with lung conditions. However, always consult your doctor if you have severe or unstable respiratory issues.
