About

Zomelis SG Tab contains Vildagliptin, a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor, used for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Vildagliptin works by enhancing the body's natural ability to control blood glucose levels. It achieves this by increasing the levels of active incretin hormones, glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP).

These incretins stimulate insulin release from pancreatic beta cells and suppress glucagon secretion from alpha cells in a glucose-dependent manner. This mechanism helps to lower both fasting and post-prandial blood glucose concentrations without significantly increasing the risk of hypoglycemia. Zomelis SG Tab is an effective option for patients whose blood sugar is not adequately controlled with diet and exercise alone, or in combination with other antidiabetic agents.
