About
Ricovir 300 mg Tablet contains the active ingredient Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate, which belongs to the class of antiretroviral (antiviral) medications. It is used to treat infections caused by HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) and HBV (hepatitis B virus). As a nucleotide reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NRTI), it works by blocking the enzymes (HIV reverse transcriptase and hepatitis B DNA polymerase) essential for virus replication. This medication should always be taken in combination with other drugs to effectively treat HIV infection. Ricovir 300 mg Tablet is intended for adults and adolescents aged 12 to 18 years. For HIV treatment, it is prescribed to adolescents who have previously been treated with other HIV medications that are no longer fully effective due to resistance or side effects. The safety and effectiveness of this tablet have not been studied in patients over 65 years old.
Do not take Ricovir 300 mg Tablet if you have experienced allergic reactions to Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate or any of its ingredients. During treatment, your doctor may regularly monitor your blood counts, bone mineral density, and liver and kidney function to prevent serious side effects. Inform your doctor if you have a history of heart failure, pancreatitis, bone diseases (such as osteonecrosis), fractures, chronic liver diseases (including hepatitis B or C), or kidney problems.
This medication should not be given to adolescents with existing kidney issues. If you have lactose intolerance, make sure to inform your doctor before starting treatment. Also, notify your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or suspect you may be pregnant. Breastfeeding is not recommended because of the risk of HIV transmission. Patients should use effective contraception to prevent the spread of HIV.
