About

Sartel LN is a fixed-dose combination medication specifically formulated for the comprehensive management of essential hypertension. It comprises two distinct antihypertensive agents: Telmisartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB), and Amlodipine, a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker (CCB). This synergistic combination is particularly beneficial for patients whose blood pressure remains inadequately controlled with monotherapy, or as an initial therapeutic approach when a multi-drug regimen is anticipated to be necessary. Telmisartan exerts its effect by selectively blocking the binding of angiotensin II to its AT1 receptors, leading to vasodilation, reduced aldosterone secretion, and decreased blood pressure. Amlodipine, on the other hand, relaxes vascular smooth muscle cells, primarily in the peripheral arteries, resulting in peripheral vasodilation and a reduction in systemic vascular resistance. The combined action of these two agents provides robust and sustained blood pressure control, effectively mitigating the risks of serious cardiovascular events such as stroke, myocardial infarction, and heart failure, thereby improving long-term patient outcomes.

Uses

  • Treatment of essential hypertension.
  • Blood pressure control in patients not responding to monotherapy.
