About
Sutib 50 Capsule is an antineoplastic (anticancer) medication used to treat gastrointestinal stromal tumors (cancer of the stomach, bowel, or esophagus) in patients who do not respond to imatinib. It is also prescribed for renal carcinoma (kidney cancer) that has spread to other parts of the body and for advanced pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (cancer affecting hormone-producing cells in the pancreas).
The active ingredient, sunitinib, works by slowing the growth of cancer cells through two mechanisms. It interferes with a protein that promotes cell division, reducing cancer cell production, and inhibits angiogenesis—the formation of new blood vessels that supply nutrients to tumors—thereby depriving cancer cells of essential nutrients and leading to their death.
Take this medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Common side effects may include difficulty breathing, high blood pressure, extreme fatigue, swelling under the skin or around the eyes, mouth irritation or sores, dry mouth, taste changes, gastrointestinal issues (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain, loss of appetite), hypothyroidism, dizziness, headache, nosebleeds, back or joint pain, pain in arms or legs, yellowing of the skin, rash on palms or soles, skin dryness, cough, fever, and sleep disturbances. Contact your doctor immediately if any side effects persist or worsen.
