About

Telma CT 40/6.25 Tablet is a combination antihypertensive medication used to treat essential hypertension. It contains Telmisartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB), and Chlorthalidone, a thiazide-like diuretic. Telmisartan works by blocking the AT1 receptors, preventing the action of angiotensin II, which results in vasodilation and a reduction in blood pressure. Chlorthalidone enhances the excretion of sodium and chloride ions, and consequently water, from the body via the kidneys. This diuretic action reduces blood volume and peripheral vascular resistance, contributing significantly to blood pressure lowering. The combination of these two agents provides a potent and sustained antihypertensive effect, making it effective for patients who require more aggressive blood pressure control or who have not responded adequately to monotherapy.

  • Management of high blood pressure when monotherapy is insufficient.
