About

Fexofenadine is a second-generation antihistamine that provides symptomatic relief from allergic conditions by selectively antagonizing peripheral H1-receptors. Unlike older antihistamines, fexofenadine is a non-sedating agent because it does not readily cross the blood-brain barrier, thus minimizing central nervous system side effects such as drowsiness and cognitive impairment. This makes it a preferred choice for individuals who need to maintain alertness and focus during their daily activities.

It is primarily indicated for the treatment of seasonal allergic rhinitis, commonly known as hay fever, alleviating symptoms like sneezing, runny nose, itchy nose, palate, throat, and watery, itchy eyes. Additionally, it is highly effective in managing chronic idiopathic urticaria (hives), reducing itching and the number and size of hives. Fexofenadine offers a rapid onset of action and a prolonged duration of effect, typically providing 24-hour relief with a single daily dose, significantly improving the quality of life for allergy sufferers.
