About

Zynesp 100mcg Injection contains Darbepoetin alfa, a long-acting erythropoiesis-stimulating agent (ESA) that is structurally similar to human erythropoietin. It works by stimulating the bone marrow to produce red blood cells, thereby increasing hemoglobin levels and red blood cell count. This medication is primarily indicated for the treatment of anemia associated with chronic kidney disease (CKD) in both dialysis and non-dialysis patients. It is also used to manage chemotherapy-induced anemia in cancer patients with non-myeloid malignancies.

Darbepoetin alfa binds to erythropoietin receptors on progenitor cells in the bone marrow, promoting their proliferation and differentiation into mature erythrocytes. Its extended half-life compared to epoetin alfa allows for less frequent dosing, offering convenience and improved patient adherence. Regular monitoring of hemoglobin levels and blood pressure is crucial during treatment to ensure efficacy and manage potential risks.
