About

Alsartan 50mg Tablet contains Valsartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) used primarily for the treatment of hypertension, heart failure, and to improve survival after a myocardial infarction. Valsartan works by selectively blocking the AT1 receptor, preventing angiotensin II from binding and exerting its vasoconstrictive and aldosterone-stimulating effects. This leads to relaxation of blood vessels, a decrease in blood pressure, and a reduction in the workload on the heart. Its action helps to reduce peripheral vascular resistance without affecting heart rate.

The medication is effective in managing high blood pressure, which is a major risk factor for cardiovascular diseases. In patients with heart failure, Valsartan helps to improve symptoms and reduce hospitalizations by counteracting the harmful effects of angiotensin II on the heart and blood vessels. For post-myocardial infarction patients, it helps to improve outcomes by preventing cardiac remodeling. Consistent adherence to the prescribed dosage is essential for achieving therapeutic benefits and minimizing cardiovascular risks.

  • Breastfeeding - It is not recommended during breastfeeding as Valsartan may be excreted in breast milk and could potentially harm the nursing infant. Consult your doctor.
  • Liver - Use with caution in patients with mild to moderate hepatic impairment. Dose adjustment may be necessary. Not recommended in severe hepatic impairment.
  • Kidney - Monitor renal function closely in patients with kidney impairment. Dose adjustment may be required, and it is contraindicated in severe renal artery stenosis.
