About

Amlong TL 40 is a potent combination medication formulated for the effective management of essential hypertension, especially when monotherapy is insufficient. It consists of Amlodipine, a long-acting dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker, and Telmisartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB). Amlodipine works by relaxing the smooth muscles in the arterial walls, causing peripheral vasodilation and a reduction in systemic vascular resistance, which lowers blood pressure. Telmisartan selectively blocks the angiotensin II type 1 (AT1) receptor, preventing the vasoconstrictive and aldosterone-secreting effects of angiotensin II. This leads to further vasodilation, reduced sodium and water retention, and a sustained reduction in blood pressure.
