About
ARBITEL AM TAB combines Telmisartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB), with Amlodipine, a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker (CCB). Telmisartan works by selectively blocking the AT1 receptor, preventing angiotensin II from constricting blood vessels and stimulating aldosterone release, leading to vasodilation and reduced blood pressure. Amlodipine relaxes and widens blood vessels by inhibiting the influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle cells, thereby reducing peripheral vascular resistance. This dual mechanism of action provides a synergistic antihypertensive effect, effectively lowering blood pressure and reducing the risk of cardiovascular events. It is indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension, particularly in patients who have not achieved adequate blood pressure control with monotherapy or who require combination therapy for optimal management.

Safety Measures
- Alcohol - Avoid or limit alcohol consumption as it may enhance the hypotensive effects, leading to increased dizziness or lightheadedness.
- Pregnancy - Contraindicated during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, due to significant risk of fetal renal dysfunction and mortality from the ARB component.
- Breastfeeding - Not recommended during breastfeeding as the active ingredients may pass into breast milk and could cause adverse effects in the nursing infant.
- Liver - Use with caution in patients with severe hepatic impairment; dose adjustment may be necessary due to altered metabolism and excretion of the components.
- Kidney - Use with caution in patients with severe renal impairment; close monitoring of kidney function and electrolytes is essential due to potential for worsening renal function.
- Lung - Generally safe for use in patients with lung conditions; however, monitor for any unusual respiratory symptoms, though not typically associated with these medications.
