About
Stamlo T is a fixed-dose combination medication containing Amlodipine and Telmisartan, indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension. Amlodipine is a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker that causes peripheral arterial vasodilation, directly reducing peripheral vascular resistance and blood pressure. Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that selectively blocks the AT1 receptor, preventing the vasoconstrictor and aldosterone-secreting effects of angiotensin II. This dual mechanism of action provides complementary blood pressure-lowering effects, offering superior efficacy compared to monotherapy with either agent alone. The combination is particularly useful for patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled by Amlodipine or Telmisartan monotherapy, helping to achieve target blood pressure goals and reduce the overall risk of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality associated with hypertension. Its once-daily dosing also contributes to improved patient adherence.
