About

Telma LN tablets are a combination medication containing Telmisartan and Amlodipine, designed for the effective management of essential hypertension. Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that works by selectively blocking the AT1 receptor, leading to vasodilation and a reduction in blood pressure without affecting heart rate. Amlodipine is a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker (CCB) that causes peripheral vasodilation by inhibiting the influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle, further lowering blood pressure.

This combination provides a synergistic effect, offering potent and sustained blood pressure reduction, which is particularly beneficial for patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled by monotherapy. By targeting different pathways involved in blood pressure regulation, Telma LN helps to reduce the risk of cardiovascular events such as stroke and heart attack, improving overall cardiovascular outcomes. It is generally well-tolerated and offers 24-hour blood pressure control.
